Kohaka Lodge
Our Kohaka Lodge is a smaller alternative to the Takahea Lodge, featuring 11 ensuite rooms that can accommodate up to 28 guests—perfect for smaller groups. From the kitchen window, guests can enjoy a breathtaking view of Mt Anau, its sharp peak rising above the clouds, making for a stunning sight in the morning. The lodge offers a cozy lounge and dining area with a large log burner, as well as a small library and games area for relaxation.
The fully equipped kitchen provides a fantastic view of the lake and mountains and includes two ovens, two microwaves, two fridge/freezers, and a small chest freezer. To ensure a comfortable stay, all cleaning products are provided, along with bathmats, bottom sheets, and pillows with cases. The lodge also features heated rooms for added warmth and comfort.
Additional amenities include a large BBQ with gas supplied, wheelchair access, and a table tennis table available for group use. Whether for a retreat, school trip, or corporate getaway, Anau Lodge offers a well-equipped and inviting space for any group stay.
General Information
Arrival & Departure
Guests may check in from 2:00 pm onwards, with departure required no later than 10:00 am. Any exceptions to these times are at the discretion of the Operations Manager.
Pets
As the lodge is located within a National Park, pets are not permitted on-site. However, the Operations Manager has a permit for his dogs, provided guests comply with the established rules.
Cleaning
We supply all necessary cleaning products, including tea towels, rubbish bags, and toilet paper. Groups are responsible for leaving the facility clean and tidy. Cleaning instructions are displayed throughout the lodge, and all cleaning tasks must be completed before departure. Any additional cleaning required to restore the facility to its high standards will be charged at $100 per hour.
Damages
All breakages and damages must be reported, and any associated costs will be charged to the group. Repairs will be arranged by the Operations Manager through our preferred contractors. While we understand that accidents happen, we rely on guest honesty to ensure that any issues are promptly resolved.
Deposit
A 20% deposit of the total hire charge is required upon booking and is non-refundable in the event of cancellation. The remaining balance must be paid on or before the date of hire. Cancellations made within 7–14 days of arrival will require payment of 75% of the total hire charge, while cancellations within 7 days will be charged the full hire amount.
What You Need to Bring
For a comfortable stay, we provide bottom sheets, pillows, pillowcases, and bath mats. Guests will need to bring additional bedding and towels. The nearest shops are located in Te Anau, so we recommend stocking up before arrival, as there is no on-site store. If catering services are required, we can recommend local caterers and food providers.
